The Flash Coffee Pop-Up Concept explores how the brand could appear for a short time in high-traffic spaces in Jakarta, such as mall atriums, office lobbies and event venues. The brief called for a structure that is quick to install, works as a fully equipped coffee bar, and draws attention on its own, without a permanent shopfront.
Two directions were developed in 2025. They take opposite approaches: one is a closed, mysterious object, the other an open, welcoming shelter.
Design 1 — The Box
The first design is a compact, closed cube clad in brushed stainless steel panels that reflect the space around it. A mirrored plinth makes the box appear to float above the floor. Almost nothing is revealed from the outside: a single yellow-lined window frames the espresso machine like an exhibit in a gallery, inviting people to stop, look and take a photo.
Walking around the box reveals its function. On one side, a service window opens to the barista, with a stacked pastry display and an ordering screen beside it. Bold yellow FLASH and COFFEE lettering wraps the corners, so the brand reads from every approach. The idea is curiosity: the box is a sculpture first and a coffee bar second.

Design 2 — The Canopy
The second design opens everything up. A light frame of slender poles leans inward like a tent and holds a translucent golden mesh canopy above the bar. The canopy defines the space and glows under the lights without closing it off, so the pop-up can sit in the middle of an atrium and remain visible from all sides.
Underneath, a dark island bar carries the illuminated FLASH COFFEE lettering and the yellow espresso machine, with tubular steel benches and tables on both sides. Here the barista is at the centre of the scene, and the pop-up works as a small gathering place rather than a counter to pass by.

Two ways to pop up
The Box suits busy corridors and lobbies where space is tight and a strong visual moment is needed. The Canopy suits larger atriums and events where people can stay longer. Both share the same brushed-metal, yellow and dark palette, the same equipment layout and a simple modular build, so either can be set up quickly and moved to a new location.
